外資系の企業であったり、英語が業務で必要な職種の場合、就職面接の受け答えを英語で行う事があります。
ただでさえも、面接と言えば緊張する場面ですが、英語で受け答えをするとなるとなおさらどのような返答をすればよいのか、間違ったニュアンスになっていないのか、などなど気になるポイントがたくさんあるかと思います。
まずは難しく考えず、できるだけ丁寧な言葉遣いを心がけるだけで、面接官に伝わり印象は異なってくると思いますよ。
例）I want to ～ → I would like to ～
Can you ～？ → Could you ～？
今回は、面接の時に役立つフレーズを紹介します。
面接官：Tell me about yourself.
How would you describe yourself?
→I am a positive, hard working person. I like building relationships with people and cooperating with them towards a common goal.
私は積極的で、一生懸命仕事をする人間です。
同じ目標を目指して協力しながら、人間関係を深めていくこと得意としています。
面接官： Please tell me how would other people describe you?
→ People describe me as a smiling person who likes to help when needed.
手助けが必要な時に喜んで引き受ける、協力的な人と言われます。
面接官：Why are you interested in this position?
→ I always wanted to work in this field, and I studied at University to exactly do this job.
こちらの仕事は私の大学での専攻分野でもあり、この業種に就きたいと思っていました。
面接官：Can you tell me the reason you would like to work here？
→ I heard that this company cares about its employees and the work environment in general, so I am really looking forward to working with you.
御社は従業員、また労働環境への配慮をされているとお伺いしました。
そのような御社で働きたいと思っております。
面接官：How did you hear about this position?
→ I heard about this position online, and I also did some research about the company.
こちらの求人はウェブで見つけ、御社の業務内容を調べました。
面接官：What do you know about us?
→ Your Company was founded some twenty years ago, and has since then distinguished itself from the competition thanks to the high quality of its services. It's a positive and challenging work place where collaboration is essential.
二十数年前に設立されてから、よい品質の商品を出し続け、業績も伸ばしておられます。社内での協力が密にできている会社だからこそ、そのように良い業績の残し続けられていると思います。
面接官：How can you contribute to our company?
→ As a person who likes teamwork, I can use my education, previous work experiences, and social skills to improve both the work outcome and the work environment.
チームワークが好きな私としては、学んできたことや、前職からの経験、ソーシャルスキルが、仕事の結果、職場環境の向上へとつながると思っております。
面接官：What are your strong points?
→ I am a fast learner, and I know how to get things done. Also I don't mind long working hours.
私の長所は学習能力が高く、やり遂げる力があります。また、長時間の労働も苦になりません。
面接官：How about your weaknesses?
→ I am a perfectionist, so I want to do things in the best possible way, but sometimes people say that I ask the same from my coworkers, therefore creating tension in the workplace.
Naturally, as soon as this happens, I talk to my colleagues and we decide together on how to do things.
私の短所は完璧主義者であることです。できる限りベストな仕事をしたいと心がけていますが、時に同様に行う事を同僚に求めてしまう事があり、職場に緊張を与えてしまう事ありました。
このような事が起きたときには、同僚と話しどのようにしていくか話し合うようにしています。
面接官：What are you not good at?
→ I don't like wasting time, so I'm not good at spending time doing nothing. Also, I'm not very good at driving.
時間を無駄に使うことが嫌いなため、何もせずに過ごすことが苦手です。また、車の運転が上手ではありません。
面接官：Please tell me why we should hire you.
→ Because I have genuine interest in both the company and its business. I like this job and can truly contribute to both the company and the work environment.
純粋に御社と事業内容に興味を持っており、御社に、また労働環境に貢献できると思っております。
面接官：What is most important for good teamwork.
→ Listening. Everyone has his or her way to address a problem, and reacts differently to new situations, so listening to the co-workers' needs is essential for teamwork.
よく人の話を聴く事です。人それぞれ、問題の解決方法があります。そして、新しい環境への対応の仕方も異なります。ですから、同僚が必要なことに耳を傾ける事がチームワークに大切な要素と考えています。
面接官：How do you handle criticism?
→ Criticism is a good way to have feedback about your work and the impressions you make on people, so it is usually a positive contribution.
批判は自身の仕事に対してのフィードバックにもなりますし、自身を印象付ける事にもつながりますので、前向きなものとしてとらえます。
面接官：Can you tell me how you would deal with a difficult situation?
→ First, I ask if other people have experience with such situation. I listen to their advice and see if they can be useful for the actual problem. If I still can't find a solution I’ll ask my boss for help.
まずは、そのような状況になった事があるか他の人に尋ねます。そして、助言を求め、実際に起きている問題に役立てる事ができるか確認します。
もし、それでも問題を解決する事が難しいようであれば、上司に意見を求めます。
面接官：Why did you leave your previous place of employment?
→ I had to move to Osaka to assist my family. Now my family is fine, and as I found this company, I prefer it over the previous one.
家庭の事情で大阪に引っ越ししてきました。御社の求人を見つけて、前職よりも条件が良いと思います。
面接官：What did you learn from your previous work?
→ I learned that there is no manual for each and every different situation. While working, people have to be flexible and be ready to adapt to new challenges.
異なった状況下でそれぞれに添ったマニュアルはない事を学びました。
仕事をしているからには、どのような状況にも対応できる柔軟性と、新しい事に挑む適応性が必要と思います。
面接官：What is your desired salary?
→ The same as the average in this field, but I hope that there could be chances to improve it in the future, according to work experience and my eventual contributions.
現在は、この分野での平均を希望しておりますが、将来的には経験値や成果により賃金を上げて頂ければと存じます。
*日本ではいきなり給与の希望を面接で話すことはありませんが、自身の経歴をアピールしこれだけの価値がありますよ、明確に伝える事も必要です。
面接官：Do you have any references?
→ Sure. Here are the references from my last employer, and from my University professor. In the first one you can read about my contributions, in the second one about my passion and my perfect attendance.
こちらが前職場からと、大学の教授からの推薦書です。一枚目が私の成績で、2枚目は意気込みと皆勤に関する事が記載されています。
面接官：Where do you see yourself in five years?
→ I definitely see myself working here. I like teamwork, so if such a situation arises, I would love to be a project manager.
チームワークを得意としておりますので、プロジェクトマネージャーを任されていればと思います。
面接官：Thank you very much for your time.
→ You're welcome. Thank you for your interest and your time.
