“Line of work”「仕事のライン」で　『業種、職種、業界』を意味します。


kind of job、type of job と同じような表現です。

Line of work は、be動詞 + in とセットで使います。


Q: What line of work are you in?
お仕事は何ですか？

A1: I’m in the education field.
教育関連です。

A2: I’m in sales.
営業をしています。



A: What do you do?
仕事は何しているの？

B: I work for an advertising agency.
広告代理店に勤めています。

A: Oh, my sister is in the same line of work too.
あら、私の妹も同じ業界に勤めているの。


職業を聞くときには、
"What is your job?" "What do you do?" を使いたくなりますが、"What line of work are you in?" とサラっと尋ねてみてはいかがでしょうか！
