突然ですが、わたくしの苦いイギリス初上陸時の小ネタを！
初イギリスは、イギリス南部にある、”Bournemouth”という街で障害者施設へボランティア活動をしに行ったのですが、
Heathrow空港のインフォメーションで行き方を訊ねると
『〇番乗り場のバスで、〇〇〇〇まで行って、そこから電車に乗ると早いわよ！』
と言われました。
『Thank you !!!』 と片手をひらひらさせながら、
意気揚々と、バス乗り場に向かいました。
いざ出発すると、始めてみる風景に目を輝かせながらも、見知らぬ地での新しい生活に緊張をしたものです。
ですが、が、しばらくして、
『今、夕刻・・・。左側から日がさしている・・・。やばい、北に向かっている・・・・。』
そんな私が、到着した駅でまず確認したのが、「私、今どこにいる？」
そんなパニック状態の時に、使える英会話の紹介です。

(アナウンス）アップル駅です。お降りの際は、足元に十分ご注意ください。
H＝Excuse me, Does this train stop at Tomato Station?
すみません。この電車はトマト駅にとまりますか？
S＝No, it is bound for Cake Town Station so, it doesn't stop at Tomato Station.
いいえ、この電車はケーキタウン駅行きなので、トマト駅には止まりません。
H＝Oh, Really? How can I get there?
え、本当ですか？ トマト駅にはどうやって行くのですか？
S＝You should go to Central Station, and change at Salad Station.
セントラル駅に行って、サラダ駅行きに乗り換えて下さい。
H＝I've just came here from there.
今そこから来たんです。

The central Station runs many train everywhere, so it complicated to foreigners.

はい。そうですね。ではセントラル駅に戻ります。次のセントラル駅行きの電車はいつ来ますか？
S＝It'll arrive on 2:00pm at platform 4.
２時に４番ホームから出発します。
H＝2:00pm!? I have to wait more the 20mins...
２時ですか？ ２０分も待たないといけませんね・・・。
I have to meet my friend at that time, but it's impossible to be there at that time.
その時間に友達と会う約束をしていたのですが、時間までに行くことはできないですね。
So, I would like to call her about being late. Where can I call? Is there a pay-public phone in this station?
遅れる事を友達に伝えたいのですが、どこかで電話出来ますか？ 公衆電話などこの駅にありますか？
S＝NO, It's outside the station.
いいえ、駅の外に出て頂かないとないです。
But, you can ask the imformation center to call.
ですが、インフォメーションセンターに行くとかけてくれますよ。

セントラル駅から間違った電車で来てしまい、またセントラル駅に戻り、サラダ駅行きに乗り換えないといけないんです。
We were supposed to meet at Tomato station at 2:00pm.
トマト駅で２時に合う予定だったので。

ありがとう。次は２時にセントラル駅行きがきます。
And I will change the train to Tomato Station at 2:25 at central.
それから、2：25にセントラル駅でトマト駅行きの電車に乗り換えます。

日本では考えられない事ですが、イギリスでは、急に電車の行き先が変更になる事もあるので、
乗り換えの方法や行き先を正しく確認する方法を知っておかれても良いと思いますよ。
